The four year B.A. B.Ed integrated programme is designed to provide opportunities for students to extend as well as deepen their knowledge and understanding of teaching profession and also to develop research capacities leading to specialization at the secondary education. The four-year integrated programme aims at integrating general social sciences or humanities (B.A. B.Ed), and professional studies comprising foundations of education, pedagogy of school subjects, and practicum related to the tasks and functions of a school teacher. It maintains a balance between theory and practice, and coherence and integration among the components of the programme, representing wide knowledge base of a secondary school teacher. It is expected to equip the aspirant school teacher with the requisite attitude, skill and knowledge to address the challenges of becoming an effective school teacher. The programme aims at preparing teachers for Upper Primary and Secondary stages of education.
The four year Integrated B.A. B.Ed. programme shall be offered in composite institutions as defined in clause (b) of NCTE regulations 2, 2014 ('composite institutions' means a duly recognized higher education institution offering undergraduate or postgraduate programmes of study in the field of liberal arts or humanities or social sciences or sciences or commerce or mathematics, as the case may be, at the time of applying for recognition of teacher education programmes, or an institution offering multiple teacher education programmes).
OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE
1. To prepare dedicated teachers for improvement of the school education system in the country.
2. To adopt modern techniques for teaching skill development.
3. To train the student teacher towards achieving excellence on academic, social, mental, physical, moral, and cultural fronts.
4. To provide opportunities to enhance their competence and knowledge construction abilities in creating positive learning atmosphere in schools.
5. To sensitize the stakeholders on the issues related to environmental protection.
CURICULUM
The B.A.B.Ed. programme shall consist of content courses as per with those of undergraduate liberal programmes in Arts stream/ Perspectives in Education/Foundation in Education, supportive courses, pedagogic courses, practicum including school experience and internship in teaching as recommended by the university from time to time.
Information and Communication Technology (ICT), gender, yoga education, and inclusive education shall form an integral part of the B.A.B.Ed. curriculum across level. Communicative skills in Modern Indian Languages or Classical Languages and Educational Studies. Content courses of B.A.-B.Ed will be History, Geography, Political Science, Economics, Computer, Education, English or Hindi or Modern Indian Languages, Communicative Skills in English and Communicative Skill in Modern Indian Languages or Classical Languages and Educational Studies.
The detailed components of the four year integrated B.A. B.Ed Programmes are as follows:
Theory courses
The programme shall comprise of
a.) Core Courses in Humanities
b.) Foundational Courses in Educational studies & Pedagogies
c.) Language & Communication & Development of the self
d.) Practicum & Internship including Field Experiences.
ELIGIBILITY
i. Admission to 4 year integrated B.A. B.Ed. shall be open to such candidate who have passed with 50% aggregate marks in case of General Category and 45% marks in case of reserved categories of SC/ST and Others in the stream of Arts in the senior secondary/ 10+2 or its equivalent, conducted by the CBSE/ Jammu & Kashmir Board of School Education or any other School Board recognized as equivalent there to.
ii. The reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/EWS and other category shall be as per the rules of the UT administration/University of Jammu.
NUMBER OF SEATS
There shall be a basic unit of fifty (50) students. Initially two units will be permitted.
ATTENDANCE
The Principal shall be competent to cancel the admission of a student enrolled in B.A.B.Ed. programme in the college affiliated with the University of Jammu, if;
i) The student teacher/ trainee/ intern remains absent without the permission of the principal for a period of l month continuously; or
ii) The student teacher fails to attend the 50% or more of the total lectures delivered in the semester concerned after an opportunity has been given to him/her to explain as to why such an action should not be taken against him/her
iii) All these actions if taken need to be vetted by the Competent Body of the University.
In case if the student teacher/ trainee/ intern has some shortage than the required needed lectures for the eligibility, the principal in consultation of Managing Committee, may condone shortages of a student in attendance in a semester for special reasons, to be recorded in writing, up to 6 % of the lectures delivered. But the internship part is to be done by the student, for which no condoning is effective. The internship is compulsory. A student, whose deficiency in lectures in a course is not condoned by the principal in consultation of Managing Committee or is not condonable, shall not be eligible to appear in the semester examination in the B.A B.Ed. course.
There will be 800 working days in the entire course spread in eight semesters. The percentage of attendance earned by the student teacher will be awarded in set procedure which as follows:
Above 95% and above = 5
Less than 95 and above 90% = 4
Less than 90% and above 85% = 3
Less than 85% and above 80%=2
FEE AND OTHER CHARGES
The fee will be charged as may be approved and notified by the University of Jammu. The institution shall not charge donations, capitation fee etc. from the students.
UNIFORM AND DRESS CODE
All the trainees will wear the prescribed college uniform on the days proposed by the College. The prescribed uniform is as under:

Note: Possession of I cards is mandatory for the trainees during college hours.
